Renowned for its distinctive use of colour and pattern, Cloth creates fabrics and wallcoverings through artist collaborations and celebrated archival collections.
Christopher Farr Cloth
Art, design, and making define the house of Christopher Farr Cloth. Since its inception in 2000, Cloth’s creative direction has been underpinned by a commitment to the finest materials, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative collaborations with contemporary artists and designers, including Kit Kemp, Olaf Hajek, and Martin Brudnizki, alongside celebrated archival works by the likes of Raoul Dufy and Michael Szell.
Today, the collection encompasses fabrics, wallcoverings, passementeries and accessories reflecting a passion for time honoured textile production processes and an intellectual yet playful approach to design and experimentation.
Cloth’s palette of instantly recognisable hues acts as a unifier that draws together the creativity of an array of artists and designers, from historical to contemporary. The collection’s unique designs are born out of ongoing conversations and exchanges of ideas with designers, as well as inspiration drawn from past archival work by 20thcentury artists.
The collection is produced by a very selective group of craftsmen. All designs are handscreen-printed at a family-owned printer in the U.K. The woven textiles are produced in European artisanal mills, exploring new weave structures and innovative yarn spinning.
